Shine in the cold: how to winterize your car
Winter puts more strain on your car than any other season. Road salt adheres to your paintwork, moisture creeps into seams and rubber seals, and temperature fluctuations cause condensation and dull surfaces. If you don't take action during this period, you'll later face discoloration, oxidation, or even incipient rust.
Winter maintenance isn't about perfection. It's about protection. With the right products and a consistent routine, you'll keep your car clean, shiny, and protected against the harshest conditions.
Step 1 – Thorough washing to remove road salt
Everything starts with cleaning. Salt and dirt must be removed from the paint before you can protect it. Use a safe, pH-neutral shampoo like RUSH Gold Wash.
- Work with the two-bucket system
- Use a soft wash mitt
- Always wash from top to bottom
- Rinse thoroughly, especially sills and wheel arches
Wheels suffer extra in winter. Therefore, use RUSH Iron Remover to safely remove brake dust and industrial fallout.
After washing, dry the car immediately with a RUSH Drying Towel to prevent water spots and freezing.
Step 2 – Protecting paintwork against road salt
Cleaning is only half the battle. Without protection, new dirt will immediately re-adhere.
During rinsing, use RUSH Nano Wet Coat. This creates a water-repellent layer, reducing the chance of road salt sticking.
For extra shine and a smooth surface that repels dirt, then apply RUSH Spray Wax.

Step 3 – Don't forget tires and rubber seals
Salt doesn't just affect paintwork. Tires and rubber seals also dry out in cold conditions. Clean tires with the RUSH Tire Brush and then treat them with RUSH Rubber Care to prevent drying out and restore their natural appearance.
Step 4 – Protecting the interior against moisture
Wet shoes and condensation cause a musty smell and contamination in the interior. Clean surfaces with RUSH Interior Clean and then protect them with RUSH Interior Care.
Finish it off with a scent from the RUSH Car Perfume collection for a fresh and well-maintained look.

Step 5 – Crystal clear vision in cold and condensation
Good visibility is crucial in winter. Clean your windows with RUSH Glass Cleaner for a streak-free result.
In frosty conditions, use RUSH De-Icer or a RUSH Ice Scraper to quickly and safely remove ice without damaging the glass.
