BOOT UIT HET WATER HALEN, 10 HANDIGE TIPS!

TAKING YOUR BOAT OUT OF THE WATER, 10 HANDY TIPS!

Winterizing your boat or taking your boat out of the water is an important moment in the boating season. By properly laying up your boat, you extend its lifespan and prevent damage during the winter months. Below you will find 10 practical tips for safely and professionally winterizing your boat.

1. Plan ahead

Choose a day with stable weather and reserve a spot at a shipyard or winter storage facility in good time. As tempting as it is to continue sailing for another weekend, good planning prevents stress and bad weather conditions.

2. Check the boat for damage

Inspect the hull, engine, and fittings before taking the boat out of the water. Small damages can be addressed immediately before they worsen during winter storage.

3. Clean the boat immediately after taking it out of the water

Clean your boat immediately while it is still wet. Water stains and algae are easier to remove then.

Use RUSH Extreme Ship Clean to easily remove brown/yellow stains. Spray, brush lightly, and rinse.

For limestone, algae, and fouling, use RUSH Marine Attack. A powerful yet safe solution for stubborn dirt.

4. Clean the interior

Vacuum carpets and clean seat cushions with RUSH Interior Clean. This product is suitable for the entire interior and removes stains without leaving residue.

For leather upholstery, use RUSH Leather Matt Clean to keep the leather clean and matte.

5. Treat woodwork

Treat teak and wooden parts with RUSH Original Teak Clean. This removes the grey film and restores the natural color of the wood.

6. Drain water

Drain water from the engine, pipes, and water tanks to prevent freezing damage.

7. Preserve the engine

Change oil and filter and run the engine on antifreeze to protect the cooling system.

8. Use good covering

Use a quality cover with sufficient ventilation to prevent moisture and mold formation.

9. Prevent pests

Check openings and seal everything well to keep mice and other animals out.

10. Inspect regularly

Visit your boat occasionally during winter storage to detect damage or moisture problems in good time.
