SPOTLESS RIMS IN 5 STEPS
Wheels make the car, as the saying goes. To be fair, a beautiful car with dirty wheels is simply unacceptable. Spotless wheels will make your car look brand new again. How do you best go about it?
Step 1: Don't go to the car wash
Important: don't go to the car wash but clean your wheels yourself. You can do this in front of your house or at a self-service car wash. At the self-service car wash, only use the high-pressure washer and leave the 'wheel cleaner' alone. The wheel cleaner at most car washes is very mild and will hardly clean your wheels. This forces you to use more water, which automatically means you spend more money.
Step 2: Let them cool down!
Before you start cleaning your car's wheels, it's important to let your car cool down. A warm car will cause many products to work less effectively and/or dry too quickly. Wait 5 to 10 minutes after driving to let the car cool down. To speed up this process, you can already go to the next step: rinsing with water.
Step 3: Rinse with plenty of water
Just like washing your entire car, you should also thoroughly rinse/spray your wheels with plenty of water. Loose dirt and sand can be easily rinsed away. If you don't do this, you can cause scratches during cleaning.
Step 4: Use a fallout remover
Fallout, along with brake dust, is the biggest cause of contaminated and dirty wheels. A fallout remover, such as RUSH Iron Remover, is the ideal product to clean your car's wheels. This product has a pH-neutral formula and is therefore safe to use. The product not only removes fallout, but also brake dust, oil, tar, and road grime.
Spray the wheels one by one evenly and thoroughly, not missing a single corner. With a handy brush, you can spread the product well and let it soak in. Use a good wheel brush to properly treat the extremely dirty parts. You can also use a wash mitt for this. Important: never use the same wash mitt for the paintwork.
Let the product soak for a maximum of 5 minutes and you will see the wheels turn red/purple. This means the product is doing its job. The more discoloration, the greater the contamination.
Then spray the wheels thoroughly from bottom to top and then again from top to bottom. Also include the outside of the wheel wells, as a lot of splashing can occur there during rinsing.
Step 5: Don't forget the tires
A step that is often skipped is cleaning the tires. Over time, tires lose their black color and even brown stains can become visible. With a little shampoo and a sturdy tire brush, you can clean the tires all around. By scrubbing with the brush, the dirt comes loose so you can easily rinse it away with water. Make sure that the dirty water does not remain on the now clean wheels.
Finally, let the tires dry thoroughly and treat them with tire shine. A good tire shine, such as RUSH Rubber Care, nourishes and protects the tires and gives a factory-new appearance.
